Initial Magazine Ideas

The working title for my magazine is "skin". I had orginally thought of using "skinned" but decided this sounded a bit violent, and graphic, and went with "skin".

My target audience is mainly male, ages 15 - 21, with part time/full time jobs, possibly in higher education, with disposable income, must of them living at home with parents. They are described as Indie Kids, Emos, Scene Kids, Moshers, Grungers and Goths. They lisen to rock music, branching in many different sub-genres. They enjoy lisening to music, hanging out with friends, and going to gigs. Many play musical instruments in bands, trying to emulate there favourite bands. Most choose to play guitar.

The price point of my magazine is £2.80, slightly more expensive than the highest selling magazine of this type Kerrang!, but less than others such as Rock Sound, and Metal Hammer.
My Magazine will come out fortnightly, less often than Kerrang! but more often than Rock Sound and Metal Hammer.

My magazines content will be based mainly around music, including things such as news, reviews of albums and gigs, interviews, gig listings and information on making it as a band in the music industry.

I will use a main colour style of black, blue and white. With a mix of simplistic and artistic fonts, making it easy to read, but also making it stand out from the crowd. It will use lots of band photos, including live shots.

It will be parrot publishing alongside magazines such as Kerrang!, Rock Sound and Metal Hammer, but also have a unique selling point with articles about how to break into the music industry as a band.
